6:01 PST - Washington:

The United States government expresses its deepest grievances over the loss of two American lives aboard the Turkish humanitarian flotilla, as well the loss of lives of eight other humanitarian workers. An investigation is underway with our allies and we will act accordingly when more information becomes available. Until more information is received, the United States request all nations to remain calm and not make any hasty decisions that could have negative consequences in the future. The US would also like to give its sympathies to the Turkish people for the attack on a peaceful protest and condemns the use of violence against civilian populations. The attack on the Israeli embassy in Ankara is another regrettable event and the US extends it's deepest condolences. The United States understands that this is an emotional time and hopes that the people keep their faith in a peaceful diplomatic solution. We will keep you informed with any new information.
