The Russian Federation sends condolences to the family of Turkish Deputy Prime Minister Besir Atalay, as well as all Turkish citizens affected by this tragedy. Such acts are a terrible plight that undermines the peace efforts underway in the region. At the same time, Russian intelligence indicates that the chemical weapons attack was carried out by terrorists affiliated with the Rebel movement, and that the rightful government of Bashar al-Assad was not involved in these actions. We strongly condemn such acts of terrorism backed by Western Imperialists with the aim of undermining the rightful government of Syria, and pledge our continued support to that government. The Russian Federation maintains its position as a beacon of freedom and peace in the region.
