Evidence of Lehi in Israeli government

Recently confirmed intelligence from the Central Intelligence Agency has shed light on the individuals behind the recent unrest in the Middle East. Lehi, a nationalist Zionist group based in Jerusalem, is thought to be behind the bombing of protestors of the Turkish flotilla attack.

Lehi, thought to be disbanded until recently, has historically been tied with paramilitary nationalist groups and religious Zionist groups. The CIA has estimated 50-100 members located in Jerusalem, Tel Aviv, and Haifa. It is also believed Lehi sympathizers hold powerful and influential positions within the Israeli government.

It appears the group has been working with sources outside Israel, further emphasizing the group’s political influence in the region. A spokesperson for the CIA denies further comment but ensures that they “are continuing to investigate the situation in the Middle East.”

A representative from the Church of Latter Day Saints writes on their website, “In no way is the Mormon church involved in terrorism abroad or at home. Lehi is an Israeli paramilitary organization, not a reference to our beloved Prophet.” (Mormon.org)
